China is a good friend of the Pope. So says the Catholic leader himself after having recently hosted a Chinese delegation in the Vatican City State.
The Chinese President Xi Jinping had also sent Pope Francis a gift, he said.
Historically, relations with the Vatican have been limited after the Cultural Revolution, but preliminary talks over the past couple of months are slowly changing that.
“They’re talking slowly, but slow things are good. Things that move fast aren’t good,” the pope said.
