06-10-16: No Thailand-trip for HK democracy activist Joshua Wong

Joshua Wong, the student activist mainly known for leading the so-called “Umbrella Revolution” in Hong Kong, had planned to go to Thailand on Wednesday to participate in a commemoration at one of the country´s most distinguished universities.

However, upon arrival, the young activist was promptly detained and after a brief holding period sent back to Hong Kong.

According to Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, the detention was carried out at the request of Chinese officers.
