08-09-16: Vietnamese government to sell off state beer companies

By Anya Palm

For many visitors it has become a tradition to enjoy either a Saigon or Hanoi Beer, while visiting Vietnam. That will still be possible – but where the money then goes is about to change.

In an unprecedented sale, the Vietnamese government, which owns both breweries, will sell their entire stock share to new owners in an upcoming auction.

The move could change the dynamics in Vietnam´s lucrative beer-market of which Danish brewery giant, Carlsberg, currently holds around around 20 percent.
