After her visit to Washington DC Myanmar State Counselor Ang San Suu Kyi returns with good news. US President Barack Obama agrees that to lift the rest of the sanctions imposed on the country during its long period as a dictatorship.
Five years ago, when Myanmar started its historic democracy process, the US eased a significant part of the sanctions but retained those who dealt with companies involved in military trade. However, the time how now come for those too to be lifted.
