In recent months Myanmar´s popular new government, led by Nobel Peace Prize winner Ang San Suu Kyi, have seen an unprecedented amount of criticism over their handling of an ongoing issue with the country´s Rohingya population.

Calls for Myanmar to denounce persecution have been wide and loud from prominent sources, such as Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

But too much pressure may in fact erode the options Ms Suu Kyi have, writes senior reporter for the Straits Times, Hui Yee Tan, in this analysis of The Lady´s dilemma.
