24-10-16: Indonesia becomes 82nd country to ratify Paris climate agreement

By Anya Palm

The Paris agreement will take effect from November 4 this year, and of the 197 countries that signed 82 have taken the futher step and ratified the agreement. The ambition was to have 55 countries ratifying before launch, so the goal is fully reached already.

However, Indonesia has quite a high level of carbon dioxide emissions and the commitment from the Indonesian government of bringing them down is a significant and welcome contribution to prevent climate change.
