Chatbots – computer programmes that conduct conversations via auditory or textual methods – have become substantially smarter in recent years, growing in tandem with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.
And Hong Kong start-ups are expecting to roll out major chatbot-projects in the coming months, allowing users to have conversations with artificial intelligence on platforms such as Messenger and WeChat.
According to some, chatbot technology will be used to enhance customer service, with 80 per cent of the world’s customer service work taken over by machines over the next three years.
