LIVING ASIA - YOUTH NETWORK AND COUNCIL

Living Asia is a youth network for students and young professionals in Denmark with experience in or an interest in Asia. The objectives of the Living Asia Network are to increase visibility and awareness is about Asia among youth in Denmark, and to help students and new graduates maximize their degrees in Asia studies and maintain a connection to Asia while in Denmark. Living Asia is a dynamic hub where young people in Denmark can get together to exchange experiences and information about all things Asia.

Developed to enhance the Asia experience for young people in Denmark, Living Asia hosts networking events at Asia House in Copenhagen’s Østerbro, featuring speakers, roundtable discussions, cultural workshops, facilitating language exchange and networking with other Asia enthusiasts and experts. Launching in September 2023, Living Asia includes two big networking events a year, in September and in February, for Lunar New Year.

Living Asia Youth Council

The Living Asia Youth Council is comprised of 6-7 students and young professionals who provide valuable insight into what the youth network should offer. The council meets four times a year at Asia House to exchange knowledge and ideas about how to strengthen the connection between young people in this region to Asia. The council is responsible for deciding what themes are important right now, what speakers should be invited to events, and how the network can supplement and complement academic studies in Denmark. Anyone who is enthusiastic about Asia, shares a vision for strengthening the Asian connection with youth in this region, and who can actively participate in the 4 annual meetings at Asia house, can apply to be a part of the Youth Council.

Members of the Living Asia Youth Council are not only part of the youth network, but also influence the direction the network takes in connecting young people with Asia. They are a part of an exclusive group of young people selected based their vision and contribution. On top of that, they gain valuable experience for their CV.

Living Asia is created by Asia House and supported by the EAC Foundation.

The network that connects Danish SME's with Southeast Asian markets
The Danish-Asian SME network helps small to medium-sized Danish enterprises get a foothold in Southeast Asia. DASN aims to strengthen access to and success in the Southeast Asian markets for Danish businesses through network building. Supported by the Danish Industry Foundation, DASN is open and free to Danish SMEs and other professionals.

DASN operates on the premise that building a network of Danish business people in Asia is vital to the success of Danish SMEs when entering Southeast Asian markets for the first time. The connections created with Danish companies that are already established in Asia are a strong asset to export-mature Danish SMEs who want to explore business opportunities in the region.

DASN organises knowledge-sharing and business-promoting activities, designed to improve member companies’ insight and best mobilize the network in relation to the goals set out by Danish SMEs.

We connect the Nordic startup ecosystem with Asia

Innovation Lab Asia (ILA) was the precursor to the Nordic Asian Venture Alliance (NAVA). ILA was focused on knowledge building and knowledge sharing, and generated a number of insightful reports into the Asian startup markets. Since then, the project has grown and transformed and been upgraded to include:

  • A startup showcasing platform, where 200 Nordic & Baltic startups are presented in English, Japanese, Mandarin and Korean.
  • A knowledge repository providing a comprehensive overview of East Asian investments into the Nordic Baltic startup ecosystem.
  • Infographics presenting the Nordic startup ecosystem with an East Asian twist, and available in Japanese, Korean and Mandarin.
  • And of course… events, reports, blogs and other insights bridging the knowledge gap between Asia and the Nordics.

The NAVA initiative is basically a continuation of Innovation Lab Asia. We are the same crew and core project partners, with a few welcome additions. And all our activities are building on the insights and network generated during the course of ILA.

Navigating Danish SMEs toward success in the Indian market

NORDIN, an Asia House project, was designed to help Danish SMEs navigate the complexities of the Indian market. Over a span of 18 months, the Indo-Danish SME Accelerator Platform provided Danish SMEs with a ready platform to gain access to the business ecosystem through guided mentorship, co-creation and development of lasting business relationships. Out of 25 companies from the second cohort to take their companies to India with NORDIN, 20 are now actively engaged in India through successful pilots, established partners and firm commercial deals.

NORDIN was made possible with funding from the Danish Industry Foundation. The project was carried out in collaboration with GreenTech Challenge, The Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and The Danish Industry Foundation, with support from DI India, Innovation Centre Denmark Bangalore and GREEN INNOVATION GROUP A/S.
