Profound practice in multi-stakeholder partnership collaboration and bridge-building between public, private, and social sectors, and close cooperation with Danish business sector in export markets. Deputy Head of Denmark’s Embassy in China 2003-2007 and Ambassador to Mexico and the Caribbean 2010-2014.
Torben has experience from working in Southeast Asia for clients such as Government Agencies, Civil Society Organizations, UN institutions and Danish companies. Experienced coordinator of multi-stakeholder research studies in Asia and facilitator of relations between Asian and Danish stakeholders. Has lived and worked for several years in Cambodia, mainly focussing on climate change programmes.
Author to the book Brudstykker af det moderne Indien (Fragments of Modern India) and owner of the website: Indien.dk. External lecturer on South Asian affairs at University of Aarhus, Folkeuniversitet, Grundtvigs Højskole and a number of high schools. Extensive experience as external consultant and project manager in IT sector involved in end-to-end implementations and global roll-outs of HRM systems.
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in China Studies and a Master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Studies from Copenhagen University. Studied language, culture and history in China for one year and have mainly focused on cross-cultural communication and collaboration.
I have worked primarily in customer service, sales and marketing in the private sector including management positions in the travel industry, humanitarian programmes and conference and event planning in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, 10 of those years being in Hong Kong.
Bachelor degree in Business, Asian Language and Culture from Copenhagen Business School with a major in Japanese. Currently studying for my MSc in Business and Development Studies at Copenhagen Business School, where I focus mainly on China, Japan and South Korea.
