Asia House launch first book on the ENTIRE history of India for Danish high schools.

6 November 2025

Yesterday, we held a book reception for “The Battle for India’s History,” written by our colleague Peter Johansen.

The book is the first in Danish to present the entire history of India, from the rise and fall of the Indus Valley Civilization 4,000 years ago to Narendra Modi’s landslide victory in 2014. The book focuses in particular on how history has been used and abused throughout the ages to promote political agendas.

The reception included a presentation by Peter on why we need to engage with India and Asia, and perhaps adjust our basic perception of the region. This was followed by a panel discussion with Peter and the book’s editor, Morten Munk, associate professor of history and social studies at Skanderborg Gymnasium, who, throughout the process, has ensured the book’s relevance to the real world in the classroom.

It was a real pleasure to see so many participants from the high school world, KUA, and familiar faces from the “India community.”

A big thank you to Systime for a fantastic collaboration, especially project manager Mette Christensen, for managing the process with a skilled hand. The result is fantastic.

If you are a high school looking for inspiration or knowledge about India and Asia in the subjects of History, Social Studies, Economics, Business Studies, Culture, and English, we may be able to help: please contact either Honar Abdollahi or Peter Johansen.
