Celebrate Chinese New Year in Copenhagen

Chinese New Year 2023, the year of the rabbit, falls on Sunday, 22 January this year and there are numerous celebrations to join around Copenhagen starting this weekend.

On Saturday, 21 January from 10:00-12.00, at Copenhagen City Hall, join the Chinese Cultural Center in Copenhagen in celebrating the Chinese New Year 2023. The celebration will feature a variety of exciting activities, including lion dance, dragon dance, performances, and much more.

Also on Saturday, 21 January, the King Sejong Institute CPH, Korean Cultural Center will hold a new year’s event to share Korean holiday food such as rice-cake soup (tteokguk,떡국) and do traditional Korean plays together.
21 January, 11:00-14:00 at Nørrebro Park School.
Price: DKK 50,- (includes lunch and snacks).

Next week on Thursday, art gallery Gammel Strand is hosting a sensory evening full of experiences including the Danish-Chinese musician CXCX Chu Chu, a sound performance, a book launch, a collective hot pot dinner, Baijiu drinks, and much more.

Where: GL STRAND, Gammel Strand 48, 1202 Copenhagen
The event is free for members of GL STRAND and for non-members the price is DKK 100; the performative Hot Pot-dinner costs DKK 250.
