Over the past three months, Asia House has had the pleasure of partnering with students from NEXT–Copenhagen Media Gymnasium in a creative and engaging masterclass.
As part of their studies in Communication, Technology, and Game Design, the students developed six escape games inspired by the theme “From Past to Present”. The games draw on the history of the East Asiatic Company (ØK) and the evolving role of Asia House, offering fresh perspectives on Denmark’s maritime heritage and global connections.
Many students had limited knowledge of the shipping industry, so this project became a fun and innovative way to introduce them to key themes like trade, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.
Halfway through the semester, students presented their concepts to our team, receiving feedback and sparring before the final showcase in May. We were truly impressed by the creativity and depth of understanding shown in each game. Three games were selected as winners and will now be part of our visitor experience at Asia House, bringing history to life in an interactive and accessible way for new audiences.
A big thanks to all the students and teachers, Mikkel Hooge Holck and Mads Morten Lønborg Høpfner from Københavns Mediegymnasium, our colleagues at Asia House, and A/S Dampskibsselskabet Orient’s Fond for supporting this initiative to connect young minds with the story of Blue Denmark and Asia.
