Marking the 75th Anniversary of Jutlandia

23 January 2026

On 23 January 1951, the Jutlandia – donated by the East Asiatic Company – set out for 999 days of UN service in Korea. During this period, 4981 allied soldiers from 24 different nations, and more than 6000 civilian Koreans, were treated on the ship.

Today, Asia House • The EAC Foundation had the pleasure of hosting a commemorative gathering marking this 75th. anniversary. The event included the screening of a documentary, and a wreath-laying ceremony was organised by the EAC Club. The wreath, jointly funded by The EAC Foundation and the EAC Club, was laid at Langelinie.

Following the ceremony, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea hosted a reception in Asia Hall, featuring Korean cuisine and refreshments, concluding with remarks from H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Denmark.
Thank you to the EAC Club and the South Korean Embassy for organising a meaningful commemoration, and to all participants for taking part in this moment of remembrance.
