We’re proud to share that Peter Johansen, Head of Projects at Asia House Denmark, has written a new book that goes to print tomorrow!
This is the first book in Danish covering India’s entire 5,000-year history, from the rise and fall of the Indus civilisation to the landslide victory of Narendra Modi in 2014. The book especially explores how history has been used throughout time to shape political narratives and agendas. In an interview with Systime, Peter said this:
“History isn’t just about understanding the past; it’s used to shape the present.” [Translated from Danish]
The book’s main purpose is to put India on the agenda in the Danish classrooms: “The importance of India – and Asia – is growing by the day, yet we’re still mainly focused on Europe and the US here in Denmark”. For this reason, the sources prioritised for this book are Indian.
The book is published through Systime, the largest publisher of school books in Denmark.
