Our mission

At Asia House, our ambitious youth strategy is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and empowerment among young people in both Denmark and Asia.

Drawing on our rich history with the East Asiatic Company and our expertise in strengthening ties between Denmark and Asia, we are building a transformative platform focused on education, culture, and talent development.

Our Strategy Aims To:

  • Be a Catalyst: Facilitate cooperation and partnerships between Denmark and Asia.
  • Create a Platform: Offer a dynamic, inclusive space where young people can drive positive societal change.
  • Empower Youth: Equip young people to become leaders and changemakers in innovation, sustainability, and cross-cultural understanding.

Our goal is to address pressing global challenges while harnessing the immense potential of the youth demographic.

Strengthening Young People's Maritime Competencies

Asia House, with support from Orient’s Fond, is leading an initiative to bridge the gap between Danish education and Asia’s maritime sector. With Asia handling around 60% of global container traffic and dominating the shipbuilding industry, understanding this region is vital for Denmark.

This project aims to connect these two worlds, increasing awareness and engagement among students and educators across Denmark. But also foster sustainability, collaboration, and partnership between education and industry. By creating deeper connections between Denmark and Asia, we ensure that future generations can navigate and contribute to an increasingly globalized world.

Key Activities

The project, in collaboration with Det Internationale Gymnasium Niels Brock, Tradium, Slotshaven, ZBC, and partners ShippingLab, World Maritime University and Danske Rederier, focuses on:

  • Masterclasses for students – Interactive sessions on maritime trade, sustainability, cultural understanding, and technological innovation in shipping, giving students a broader global perspective.
  • Competence seminars for educators – Equipping educators with cross-cultural and industry-relevant knowledge to integrate Asia and maritime topics into their teaching.
  • Jobshadowing in Asia – Selected teachers will gain first-hand experience in Asian maritime companies, strengthening international collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
